Jaw orthopedics

Jaw orthopedics is a branch of dentistry that deals with diagnosing and correcting bad habits, tooth position and surrounding structures.

By applying the most modern techniques and materials in the Art Dental House practice, therapies from mild to very complicated cases are successfully solved.
There is no upper age limit for orthodontic therapy, but in patients whose growth and development is complete, only the change in the position of the teeth can be affected, but not the skeletal-muscular structures. If, in addition to moving the teeth, it is necessary to influence the bone structures in elderly patients, then orthodontic-surgical therapy is applied, where a maxillofacial surgeon is involved in resolving the anomaly in addition to the orthodontist.
Early diagnosis is extremely important for resolving various orthodontic irregularities! Preventive action prevents the occurrence of severe irregularities, and the ideal period for early diagnosis is 5-6 years, ie at a time when the lower central incisors and the first permanent molars should have sprouted. Preservation and repair of deciduous teeth is extremely important for the space they provide, which is necessary for the eruption of permanent teeth.

In the practice of Art dental house, mobile orthodontic appliances are most often used in children, school age to correct the position of teeth and bites, then as guardians of the space for eruption of permanent teeth, and to prevent or mitigate the development of more serious orthodontic irregularities.

The name alone says that they are not fixed but can be removed occasionally. Also, the patient can choose the design of his prosthesis (color, more colors, pictures of his favorite characters, etc.), which is extremely important for our youngest patients. 🙂

These devices successfully stimulate and direct the growth and development of the jaws in the pre-pubertal and pubertal periods of a child’s growth. This prevents the greater development of orthodontic anomalies. Most functional orthodontic appliances are not fixed and can be removed according to the patient’s needs. The patient can choose the design of his prosthesis (color, more colors, pictures of his favorite characters, etc.)

This technique, better known among patients as fixed dentures, allows us to solve various more or less complicated orthodontic anomalies. There is no upper age limit when it comes to these devices, so they are often used as a pre-prosthetic preparation in certain elderly patients.

Conventional metal fixed appliances
The most commonly used fixed devices that enable fast and efficient correction of tooth position. These are mini metal locks.

Aesthetic fixed appliances
Locks made of sapphire crystal and their translucency make orthodontic treatment acceptable for some adult patients.

Self-ligating fixed appliances (metal and aesthetic)
They are indicated in certain situations. Controls are somewhat less frequent than with other techniques

This type of therapy, which is becoming increasingly popular, is intended for patients with minor orthodontic tooth irregularities. It provides a more discreet solution as well as the ability to remove the foil as needed. By scanning the teeth and jaws of the patient, a 3D digital model was obtained. In the special software, the analysis and simulation of the final result is performed, which gives the exact number of foils that will be needed for the final result.

Titanium orthodontic mini implants are used as part of fixed orthodontic therapy as an auxiliary element. It is implanted in the bone of the upper or lower jaw and serves to speed up therapy for more complicated orthodontic anomalies. After the desired effect is obtained, the mini implant is removed without leaving any defect in the bone. Today, Mini implants are one of the most effective solutions in orthodontics.

In a certain number of patients, orthodontic therapy is performed before the start of prosthetic rehabilitation in order to obtain a better, more stable and longer-lasting result of prosthetic replacement. In agreement with the prosthetist, the teeth are placed in a certain place and prepared for the next phase of work: grinding, installation of a prosthetic implant, making a fixed prosthetic work, etc.
